Can you boot into safe mode, did you update drivers recently (there apparently are some bad ati drivers that can do this), is your room hotter then normal but alsodefinately what the others said as well

Have you tried turning it off, then back on again ? Just kidding.

One thing you can try, if you know your way around your PC, is to re-seat all of the components ( mainly RAM, graphics, any other PCI cards, and the SATA on your hard drives ). Just disconnect then reconnect everything a few times, one at a time if you're worried you'll forget where it all goes. Atmospheric conditions can oxidise the contacts, causing the component to report a fault.
If you have an 'off the shelf' PC, then your power supply could be the culprit too. Likewise, if you run the power through a surge protector, try running it straight off the wall ( no double adaptors or ext' leads ).

If you try any of these solutions, do them individually, then start your PC. This way you can isolate the problem.

Hope this helps, good luck

What O/S are you running?

All of the above solutions sound like the ight advice.. I would add to try and boot the system in between RAM swaps... etccc to hopefully try and isolate the issue.
You mention the GPU might be at fault ( guessing the usual have you done a driver update before/after you noticed your current BSoD ) and not necessarily in direct relation to your graphics card.. anything at all that you can think of which was done just before the problem?? hardware / software introduced before it went stupid?

Sorry if some questions have been answered allready.. trying to cover most bases to get an idea of the problem

Cheers

It's an incompatibility with the motherboard and the GPU most likely, a BIOS update "might" fix it but the easiest way is to get a new GPU.

Does it only happen with a particular game. Maybe you can update the DirectX files.
If you want the BSOD to remain instead of your computer restarting straight away then do this.
Right click on My Computer under START and left click on properties and then left click on Advanced System Settings, then left click on The Advanced TAB at the top of the System Properties Window. Now Click on Start Up and Recovery and then look for the checkbox under the heading system failure: UN CHECK the box for Automatically restart.

As far as I am aware, it has always had this issue from day 1, it's not a factory standard, bought off the shelf computer, it was built up with components out of a computer shop and put together by Skitz

It has had the updates done for the bios and the graphics card,
too many times on my hand to count, to my knowledge,
in every way shape or form known to do it, including all above.

HERE ARE ALL THE SPECS, that I know of.

Motherboard: Gigabyte S series EP43-DS3
Power Supp: Antec true power Quattro, signature series- 850Watts
Processor : E8400 Intel core 2 duo overclocked TO 3.33GHZ
Ram: Corsair xms2 DDR2 2x2GB(4GB)(TWIN2X4096-6400C5 G)
Tower: Xclio A380+
Monitor: Samsung syncmaster 2253LW 22" Widescreen LCD (BH68-00376L-06)
DVD drive: Pioneer - dvd/cd writer - DVR-213LS
TV TUNER CARD: WINFAST HD DIGITALtv (CODE: LR6XXX PART NO: W05G0250 VERSION J.)
MOUSE: RAZOR DEATHADDER
HDD: SAMSUNG 750 GB SATA
Keyboard: microsoft media Ex110
USB: 2.0 x 2 on top of case x 8 on back of case (10 in total)
Graphics Card: ATI Palit Radeon HD4870S
Headset: 3-microsoft LifeChat LX-3000

I can give more details if needed

OK my 2.2 Cent's worth ( INC GST !! lol )

If you want / can be bothered to:

Processor : E8400 Intel core 2 duo overclocked TO 3.33GHZ

Unwind the O/C set this back to standard ( if BSOD continues after reeboot then likely not the cause.. however keep the non O/C settings until you find the culprit )

TV TUNER CARD: WINFAST HD DIGITALtv (CODE: LR6XXX PART NO: W05G0250 VERSION J.)

Get this puppy OUT ( just take it out no need for drivers removal unless it fixes the BsOD on multiple reboots in which case delete all drivers for it and install in another computer )

Keyboard: microsoft media Ex110

if this installed or required drivers I would also remove from the sum of things Drivers / Keyboard and do as above if ok in multiple reboots then all good.

rest looks ok Ness... what operating system are you running.. and if possible.. anything you guys can think of before the BSoD started happening which was introduced either hardware or software updates anything like that?

DOH just re-read your reply Ness and if it's from day1 then.. nothing has been introduced or changed since?

Cheers
